Biography
Born in Munich, Daniel Hertlein grows up with Christian values and with extensive contact to Eastern
wisdom: his grandmother was a nun, his mother practises yoga, his father teaches taekwondo, his brother is a healer.
As a teenager he devotes his energy intensely to the exploration of the relationship between the body
and the mind. After a travelling and experimenting phase which in turn lead to various inclinations such as pedagogic, psychology, painting, photography and sports, he learns different ways of massaging – Shiatsu, Thai massage – partially in Asia, and also occupies himself with energy work. From that point on he starts his teaching work, which is continuously formed and shaped by his experiences.
His search for life's answers leads him to study the Holy Scriptures and to well known yoga masters and
teachers like Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, David Williams, David Life, Duncan Wong and Swami Samarpanananda.
In the lineage of Shunryu Suzuki und Baker Roshi, in whom he recognises his "true" teacher, he practises in the Zen Buddhist tradition and goes through an intense process of spiritual transformation which allows him to enter the divine space and to receive the blessing of ascended masters. The following years he devotes to the understanding, integration and deepening of his experiences.
Out of his heart's desire to make the healing and transforming power of the divine space accessible to other people and to allow it to be experienced in their day to day life Daniel Hertlein develops the "Yogische Lebenskunst" – a path of realisation. As a meditation teacher and teacher of the inner awakening he accompanies the inner processes of his students clearly and sympathetically with energy and words, thereby supporting them on their journey to themselves.
To make his teachings more accessible he has also dedicated time to the writing of spiritual texts and to the production of practice CDs and DVDs – so far six books, three CDs and one DVD have been published.
Daniel Hertlein lives with his wife and two children in Munich.
